Roll back or revert memoQ TMS

When something goes wrong with memoQ TMS, and repairing the server cannot fix the problem, you need to go back to a state which worked. You have three things you can try:

  • Rolling back the last update replaces memoQ TMS's program files with the earlier ones but leaves the database unchanged. This means you will not lose any work. Try this option first.

    Do not roll back if OIDC-based single sign-on is set up: Installing that feature adds tables to the memoQ TMS database. Rolling back does not remove these tables, and this can cause problems.

  • Restoring from a backup replaces the whole memoQ TMS (program files, database, resources) with an earlier state. This means you will lose all the work done after the backup. This option works best if you have daily backups.
  • Reverting to a previous version restores both memoQ TMS's program files and the database to the time of the last upgrade, but leaves resources (for example, translation memories) unchanged. This means you will lose all the work done after the upgrade from the database - but you may be able to recover translations from TMs. But it also means that reverting can create inconsistencies between projects and resources. Use this option only as a last resort.

Navigation

  1. Log in to the memoQ TMS computer through Remote Desktop.

  2. Open the Start screen or the Start menu: Press the Windows key.

  3. Type memoQ, and wait for the results to appear.

  4. Klicken Sie in der Liste auf memoQ TMS deployment tool.

  5. Windows may ask you to confirm to run the program. Click Yes or Run.

  1. Stop the memoQ TMS before you repair it: Klicken Sie auf Stop memoQ TMS.
  2. To restore the previous version of your memoQ TMS, click Emergency restore/rollback.

Möglichkeiten

This action rolls back the memoQ TMS's last update, and leaves the database unchanged.

  1. When you start the wizard, the Roll back to previous version option is selected. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfläche Weiter.

  2. The next page shows memoQ TMS's current and previous versions.

    To start rolling back: Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfläche Weiter. To choose a different option: Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfläche Back. So schließen Sie den Assistenten: Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfläche Abbrechen.

  3. On the confirmation page, click the Weiter button again. The rollback starts and the last page shows the results.

This option has its own topic, as it is available from the Deployment Tool's main menu, too.

Use this option only if memoQ TMS was updated or upgraded by mistake, and you did not back up before. If you did, restore the server from the backup.

Cannot use Revert to "downgrade" your server: Revert to previous version will always restore the program files of the last build or version that there was on the same computer before the last update or upgrade.

Careful, you may lose data you added since the update or upgrade: Because the new data may be incompatible with the previous version, the restored older version may not start after you revert to the older version.

The Deployment tool uses the snapshot that was made before the last update or upgrade to memoQ TMS.

For example, if you updated your copy from 9.2.3 to 9.2.6, you will get back to 9.2.3. However, if you upgraded from 9.2.3 to 9.3.5, the deployment tool will take you back to 9.2.3. The data and the configuration will remain as they are - if there are new data or configuration formats in 9.3, and they are not compatible with the previous version, memoQ TMS may not start.

Klicken Sie auf Weiter. The wizard will restore the program files of memoQ TMS to the point before the update or upgrade. This does not includes the data - they remain as they are. If the database or the configuration of the previous version are not compatible with the newer version, memoQ TMS may not start after you revert to the previous version.

Abschließende Schritte

When the repair is complete, click Finish.

The Deployment tool returns.

Klicken Sie im Abschnitt memoQ TMS auf Start memoQ TMS.

If memoQ TMS does not start: When you update or upgrade memoQ TMS, the database and the configuration are also updated. When you revert to the previous version, the database and the configuration will still be upgraded. If these upgrades are not compatible with the previous version, memoQ TMS will not start. In this case, you have no choice but to upgrade again.
