memoQ TMS - FAQ about subscription-based licensing

I have a single Translator Pro license, what does subscription-based licensing mean to me?
At the moment, nothing: The subscription-based payment model is currently available for our server customers only.
What are the different options of deployment?
The current list of our deployment offerings are the following:
  • memoQ TMS cloud: yearly or monthly subscription.
  • On-premise memoQ TMS: perpetual or subscription.
  • memoQ TMS private cloud, hosted by memoQ Zrt. (in Azure): perpetual or subscription.
What's the difference between the perpetual and the subscription-based model?
Your server deployment does not change, but you will pay a regular subscription fee instead of a one-time purchase price and yearly SMA fee.
Required minimum server version?
We recommend using the latest version of memoQ TMS. Other long-term supported versions are eligible as well.
We have an on-premise memoQ TMS with perpetual licensing. Do we need to switch?
Switching to the new payment model is not mandatory. But if you are considering it, feel free to contact our sales team.
We have an on-premise memoQ TMS. What happens after the switch?
You have to update the licenses online via the server activator application. If you need help with the process, our support team can assist you remotely.
I have an SMA backlog. Do I need to pay all of it when switching?
No, but you have to forfeit your existing perpetual licenses in order to be eligible for the subscription model.
I have pre-paid SMA for 3 years. Will this be transferred to the subscription?
As the switch to subscription is not mandatory, you are free to continue your existing SMA contract until it runs out. If you would like to switch to subscription immediately, please contact our sales team for your personalized calculation.
Is there a difference in price if I pay by month or for a year?
Yes, if you agree to pay for a full year upfront, we have a more advantageous fee per package.
Can I pay at the end of the month?
You need to pay upfront for the following month, by recurring payment—just like when you rent a perpetual license pool.
What happens if I stop paying?
There is a grace period of 30 days. During this period, we recommend that you wrap up all ongoing projects. Make sure that you also export the necessary documents. For these 30 days, we will keep a server backup available for you as well.
How much storage space is allocated to my projects?
In the standard package, the allocated storage space is 10 GB in total.
Where can I view how much storage space I consume?
You can view this in the Storage pane of Server Administrator.
What happens if I exceed my quota?
You will be notified once you approach 80% of you storage limit and will get reminders to lower your used space by archiving or exporting and deleting. If you exceed your quota, you will not be able to add new users to memoQ until you drop below after a grace period of 5 days.
What if I need more space?
You can buy an extra 10 GB of storage for 200 EUR/month
What if 20 GB is still not enough for me?
Your usage requires a dedicated memoQ TMS where you can have more disk space, as well as more resources for your projects. Contact our sales team to migrate you to our hosted offering, memoQ TMS private cloud.
Does the cloud have any connection limitations?
Yes. For every translator pro license in your server license pool, 3 people can connect to your memoQ TMS cloud server. For every project manager license, 8 people can connect. Note that this limit is independent from license usage.
Example: Your memoQ cloud license pool has 1 project manager license and 3 translator pro licenses. Even if all your translators and project managers have their own licenses, a maximum of 17 users can connect to your memoQ cloud server.
On the other hand, if none of your translators and project managers have their own licenses, a maximum of one project manager can connect to the memoQ cloud server, plus 3 translators using memoQ, and 5 translators using memoQweb.
How is the switch going to affect our current projects and work?
The transition is seamless. It only concerns the licensing; your server deployment remains the same.
Our server is on an internal network and does not have direct access to the memoQ activation server. What are our options?
There is an option for manual server activation. Our support team can walk you through the process.
Currently, we are still using a stand-alone CAL server, how should we proceed?
You will be upgraded to the latest memoQ activation scheme with the transition. Please contact us for more technical details.
