Import InDesign files (INDD, IDML, INX) in memoQ using Language Terminal. Language Terminal uses an InDesign server (for CS 7) to convert InDesign files into MQXLZ files which can be imported and translated in memoQ. Importing via Language Terminal allows you to have a preview for your InDesign files.

In the Adobe InDesign filter configurations for INDD, IDML and INX, choose the Create preview using Language Terminal check box to create a preview for your files.

Use Language Terminal to convert your MQXLZ files back to the InDesign format (INDD, IDML or INX).

Importing InDesign in memoQ

Make sure that you are signed in to Language Terminal.

Open your project in memoQ. Choose Import > Import with options button on the Documents ribbon tab, then select your INDD file in the Import with options dialog. memoQ detects the file extension.

When you upload files to Language Terminal, memoQ does not wait for the process to finish. The files for which the import has started are displayed on the InDesign import/export tab of the Translations pane:

Note: This tab is only visible when you import InDesign files using Language Terminal.

Options for the InDesign import/export tab

Click the Cancel button next to the document, which you are uploading, to cancel the upload and import via Language Terminal.

Click the Refresh link to refresh the document list in this tab.

Click the Add to project link to add the uploaded InDesign file to your project.

Click the Save link to save the document.

Click the Cancel/Discard link to cancel the the upload and import of the document.

Exporting InDesign files from memoQ

On the Documents ribbon tab, use Export (stored path) or Export (dialog) to export your translated INDD file. The file is sent to Language Terminal. You can monitor the process in the InDesign documents tab.
