You can use in connection with a memoQ server, or configure CAL as standalone server. A standalone CAL server cannot be installed on the same computer as a memoQ server.

Follow the steps below to install a standalone CAL server:

1. Download the memoQ server setup program from the Kilgray website. The CAL standalone server is part of the deployment tool. Click the Install CAL Server link.

2. On the first page of the wizard, choose the Server address:

Check the Override client connect address check box to make the Client connect address 1 and Intranet address (optional) fields editable. Enter the URL for accessing the CAL server outside your company network. Enter an Intranet address for accessing the CAL server within your company, this field is optional.

Click Next to continue the installation.

3. On the second page of the wizard, choose the Install folder and the Server user account type (detailed info on the user accounts can be found in the memoQ CAL server installation and configuration guide, available from the Kilgray website ):

Click Next to continue the installation.

4. On the third page of the wizard, your settings are validated:

If all your settings are valid, you can continue with the installation. Click Install to install the CAL standalone server.

5. After a successful installation, the memoQ CAL server manager dialog appears:

Click the Start button to start the CAL server. When the CAL server is successfully started, a green CAL icon appears in your taskbar. The CAL server manager is also available from the Start menu:

6. Close the deployment tool. You can always return to the deployment tool to upgrade, remove, repair or stop the CAL server:

7. After a successful CAL standalone server installation, you need to configure your CAL licenses.

Go to the Start menu, and choose memoQ CAL Management Tool > memoQ CAL license manager to configure your CAL licenses.

The CAL standalone server has no UI (besides the start/stop button of the CAL server manager), available locally on the PC where the service is running.

8. Enter the CAL server address and your password. Click OK to connect. If you have successfully connected to your CAL server that has been freshly installed and therefore does not yet has its own serial number, the management tool automatically selects the License pools tab.

Configure your licenses. For more information, see the memoQ CAL server installation and configuration guide, available from the Kilgray website. (You may need to register on the website to view this document.)

If you do not use a CAL standalone server, but CAL licensing together with a memoQ server, click here how to configure CAL licenses.

More information on claiming a CAL license can be found in the memoQ CAL User Guide, available from the Kilgray website.
