The Configuration and logging pane of the Server administrator dialog allows you to set the logging level and the address where the memoQ server is accessible to remote users. This pane also displays the current IP address and TCP port of the server.

Important: To modify the settings on this page, you need to run the Server administrator (i.e. the memoQ copy hosting the Server administrator) on the same computer that is running the server itself. In other words, the Configuration and logging pane can be modified only if the server is on the local computer (localhost).

How to begin

On the Project ribbon tab, choose Server Administrator. Then, on the category list, click Configuration and logging.

Options

Configuration and logging tab:

Server logging section:

oTrace level: Use this drop-down list to specify how detailed the log file should be. The logging levels are: Verbose: Choose this option if you want all actions of the server (all client connections and queries) to be listed in the log file. Info: Choose this option if you want all major actions except of queries and updates to be listed in the log file. Warning: Choose this option if you want only problematic events (warnings and errors) to be listed in the log file. Warnings are minor problems that do not prevent the server from operating. Error: Choose this option if you want only error events to be listed in the log file. Errors are serious problems that make the server or at least one of the published resources unavailable. Off: Choose this option if you want no events to be listed in the log file.

Addresses section:

Here you can specify the address of the server, used by the users (clients) connecting to this server. You can also view the IP address and TCP port of the server.

oServer address: Here, memoQ displays the current IP address or name of the local server stored in the server configuration.

oOverride client connect address: Check this check box to change the default address. Be careful when modifying this setting as you can make the server inaccessible for remote users.

Client connect address 1: This text box indicates the address where the server is accessible to remote memoQ users. By default, memoQ uses the computer name (more precisely, the host name or, if available, the DNS name retrieved from Windows® TCP/IP settings.

Intranet address (optional): This text box indicates the address where the server is accessible  to users within your organization (Intranet).

A secondary URL is optional, but you need a  primary URL: when you for instance need one URL for access outside your organization; and one URL for access within your organization (Intranet). A license is granted to a memoQ client inside or outside your organization. A signed credential includes the URL which only accepts the memoQ client.

Note: To learn more about addressing the memoQ server and setting the client connect address, refer to the corporate network guide, available from the Kilgray website.

Behavior section:

oMaximum number of TM hits returned to clients: Use this spin box to specify the limit for the number of hits to retrieve per server translation memory. The default setting is 5.

oEnable LSC lookup check box: If checked, the memoQ server will perform automatic concordancing (Longest Substring Concordance, LSC) lookups for each query. This might be time-consuming, so you might want to turn this off on servers experiencing heavy load.

Licensing mode section: Choose between the ELM licensing and the CAL licensing options. ELM licenses are mobile licenses and CAL licenses are concurrent-access licenses. Depending on your licensing mode, you see either ELM licenses or CAL licenses in the Category pane.

E-mail settings tab:

Note: Unlike the Configuration and logging tab, the settings on this tab can be modified remotely.

Note: This tab is not visible if you are using a memoQ cloud server. Then Kilgray's defaults are used for e-mail sending.

On this tab, you can configure an e-mail server for the memoQ server, so that the memoQ server will be able to send e-mails about events concerning mobile licenses and online projects. The memoQ server can use the SMTP protocol, either with or without authentication, and with or without SSL encryption.

To obtain the details necessary to connect to the SMTP server, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

Server URL text box: Type the IP address or domain name of the SMTP server here.

Authentication check box: Check this if the SMTP server requires authentication to send e-mails. If this check box is checked, you need to fill in the User name and Password text boxes too.

Port text box: Type the TCP port where the SMTP server is listening. If the e-mail traffic is not encrypted, the standard port number is 25. In case of encrypted traffic, the port number is 465.

SSL check box: Check this if the SMTP server requires encrypted connections to send e-mails. When you check this check box, memoQ will automatically change the port number in the Port box to 465.

Send test e-mail to text box: Type an e-mail address where the memoQ server should send a test e-mail so that you can check if e-mail sending is operational. Click the Send test mail link to actually send a test e-mail.

Important: If your memoQ server sends out notification e-mails in the language that your Operating System is running, but you wish to send out e-mails in another language, you can change this as an Administrator on the memoQ server: Go to C:\Programdata\memoqserver (depending on your Operating System). Navigate to the configuration.xml file. Make a backup copy of this file before you edit it. Open the file in an editor. Search for <DefaultUILanguage>en</DefaultUILanguage>, and change the language to the one you want to have e-mail notifications send out to. e.g. to ger. Restart your memoQ server. Then memoQ server will send e-mail notifications in German instead of English.

E-mail templates tab:

On this tab, you can configure e-mail templates for the memoQ server, so that the memoQ server will send e-mails about events concerning mobile licenses and online projects.

In the Notification type list, you find all e-mail notifications listed. Click the Edit link to edit a template. Click the Test link to test the customized e-mail template. Check the Test check box if you wish to test this template later on. Click the Select all button to select all notification types. Click the Unselect all button to unselect all notification types.

After you customized a template or several, you can test them. In the E-mail address for testing field, enter an e-mail address to test a customized e-mail template. Then click the Test all checked notifications button. A test e-mail is sent out for all notification types you checked the Test check box.

Click the Upload new CSS button to upload a new CSS file for your e-mail customization. Click the Download current CSS button to download an existing CSS file to make modifications. Click the Revert to default button to discard your customized CSS e-mail templates and to revert back using the default templates that memoQ server provides.

Click Save to save your settings.

Proxy settings tab:

If your network uses a proxy server to provide access to the Web, you need to configure the proxy settings for memoQ server, so that memoQ server can contact Kilgray's activation server to update ELM credentials and licenses over the Internet.

In this tab, you can configure the proxy settings for the memoQ server.

Proxy settings section:

oNo proxy: This is the default option. memoQ server will attempt to contact the Kilgray activation server directly.

oUse system setting: Choose this option to use the settings of your network's proxy server for memoQ server. Click the Detect button to detect the proxy settings for your setup.

oCustom proxy setting: Choose this option to enter custom proxy settings. Enter the host address in the text field. Choose a port from the drop-down list.

Note: You might need to obtain these details from your network (IT) administrator.

Click the Test button to test your proxy settings.

Authentication settings section:

oProxy server requires authentication check box: Check this check box to allow authentication, then use the radio buttons below to choose the type of authentication:

oUse integrated authentication: Choose this option to use the integrated authentication from the system. memoQ server will use the credentials (i.e. the user name and password) of the service account in whose name it runs.

Note: Normally, it would be LocalSystem, which is not allowed to contact other systems over the network. You might need to choose another service account to use integrated authentication.

oUse basic authentication: Choose this option to enter a user name and password to use a basic authentication for the proxy server. Note that this method is less secure than integrated authentication.

Click Save to save your settings.

Other tabs

memoQWeb tab: If memoQweb is installed on the server computer, you need to set the Web address for memoQWeb so that memoQ server can call back.

Diagnostic downloads tab: This tab is reserved for use by the Kilgray support team to download diagnostic information from your server. It requires a secret key that is known by the customer support personnel only.

Security tab: This tab enables you to set a lockout threshold for an account and the reset account lockout.

Navigation

Click Close to close the Server administrator dialog, saving all changes. memoQ will prompt for confirmation. If you make changes to the paths or server addresses, you can also click Save to save your changes and stay in the Server administrator dialog.
