You can connect memoQ server to an instance of TM Repository. TM Repository is a centralized store of translation memory data. memoQ server can use project meta-information to query a TM Repository store, and create a server-based translation memory from the extracted data.

See also: For more information on the TM Repository product, see the Kilgray website.

The TM Repository category of the Server Administrator dialog allows you to set up the connection between your memoQ server and the TM Repository server.

How to begin

On the Project ribbon tab, choose Server Administrator. In the Connection category of the Server Administrator dialog, choose your server, and click Select. Enter your user name and password if prompted.

In the list of categories on the left, click TM Repository.

Pre-requisites

In this dialog, you need to specify at least one user name and password that memoQ server uses to log on to the TM Repository server.

Make sure that the specified user exists on the TM Repository server before you set up the connection in Server Administrator.

If you plan to allow multiple users of memoQ server to access the TM Repository, you might need to a user account for each of them on the TM Repository server. In this case, you need to make sure that the user names and passwords are identical on memoQ server and the TM Repository server.

To set up the necessary user or users, you might need to contact the administrator of the TM Repository server. However, if you have administrative access to TM Repository, you can use the Admin pages of TM Repository to set up the users themselves.

Settings

At the top, you can specify the addresses of the TM Repository server.

Webservice URL text box: Type or paste the address of the TM Repository server that can be used for other programs to access the TM Repository store.

Important: Always use an address that is reachable from the memoQ server computer, and not your own computer. Make sure that memoQ server can reach the TM Repository server through the port that is specified in the address. The port number follows the server address, separated by a colon: in the example, it is 2304. It is also the default setting.

Note: If TM Repository and memoQ server are installed on the same computer, the default address will be http://localhost:2304/kilgrayrepository/. If TM Repository is not running on the same computer, but it is installed using the default settings, you need to change 'localhost' into the IP address or the domain name of the TM Repository server. If the default settings were changed during the installation of TM Repository, you might need to use a different port number (the number that follows 'localhost:' in the example.

Note: If you open the administrative web page of TM Repository, the initial page – the Dashboard – displays the programmatic address (Webservice URL) of the TM Repository server. It uses the first IP address of the server. You can copy the contents of the Web Service base address field from the Dashboard of TM Repository, and paste it into the Webservice URL text box. For more information, see TM Repository help on the Kilgray website.

Web interface URL: Type or paste the address of the administrative web pages of the TM Repository server. You need to use an address that is reachable from the computers of users who will use the TM Repository. Occasionally, memoQ needs to open the administrative web pages automatically on the screen of the user. For example, you cannot upload translation memories from memoQ server to TM Repository without this setting.

Important: In the Web interface URL text box, use an address that is reachable from the computers of users, and not from the memoQ server.

Note: Do not use 'localhost' in this text box unless you want to restrict the use of the administrative web pages to the server computer itself. In general, it is recommended to use an address like the one in the example: in that address, replace 'tmrepository.yourcompany.com' with the IP address or domain name of your TM Repository server.

Using the rest of the controls, you can set up how memoQ server logs on to TM Repository in the name of the users.

Default user name: Type a user name that exists on the TM Repository server, and has administrative privileges there. memoQ server uses this user name to log on to TM Repository for generic queries (for example, configuration data). If the Login method (see the bottom of the dialog) is set to Use default user name and password, memoQ server also uses this user name to log on to the TM Repository in the name of all users.

Default password: Type the password of the TM Repository user as it exists on the TM Repository server.

Note: The default user name and password does not have to exist on the memoQ server.

Test connection: Click this link to check if the programmatic address of the TM Repository server is correct. If memoQ server can connect to TM Repository, and log on using the default user name and password, a message box appears, and reports success.

Open TM Repository in browser: Click this link to open the administrative web pages of the TM Repository in the default browser on your computer. memoQ and the Server Administrator dialog remains open.

You can use this link to access the Admin pages of TM Repository to create new users or check the status of the TM Repository server in general.

Authorized users list: You need to list memoQ server users who will be allowed to access the TM Repository. Only these users will be able to create memoQ server TMs by querying the TM Repository store, or upload memoQ server TMs to the TM Repository.

Click Add to include a new user on the list. The Select users dialog appears where you can choose one or more users.

Click Remove to remove the selected user or users from the list.

Click Refresh roles to check if the users can access the TM Repository server, and what their TM Repository roles will be (it can be Administrator or Project manager). The contents of the Role column are retrieved from the TM Repository: it is not something you set up in memoQ.

Login method radio buttons: Choose how memoQ server logs on to TM Repository in the name of the memoQ server users.

If you click Integrated: use memoQ server name and password, memoQ server will pass on the name and password of the memoQ server user to TM Repository. In this case, the user can access the TM Repository only if the same user name and password exist on the TM Repository server. When you use this login method, and click Refresh roles under the Authorized users list, each user can have a different role. If a user cannot log on to the TM Repository server, the role column will display Not available.

If you click Use the default user name and password, memoQ server will always use the default user name and password to represent memoQ users in TM Repository. In this case, the role of all memoQ users will be the same on the TM Repository server.

Note: Even when the default user name and password is used, the authorized users need to be listed in this dialog in order to access the TM Repository. Users not on this list will not be allowed to access the TM Repository.

Save: Click this button to save the changes to the configuration of the memoQ server. You might need to click Save before you can click Test connection or Refresh roles.
