Set up Google machine translation to work with memoQ. You can also choose not to send specific texts to Google for translate.

The Google MT plugin will now use neural machine translation if it is available in your language combination. In some cases, neural machine translation can be much more fluent and human-like than statistical machine translation. To learn which language pairs are available for neural machine translation, visit this web page: https://cloud.google.com/translate/docs/languages, and scroll down to 'Language Support for the Neural Machine Translation Model'.

How to get here

1.Open the Options window: At the very top of the memoQ window - in the Quick Access toolbar quick-access-default -, click the Options (cogwheels) quick-access-options icon. The Options window opens.

2.On the Default resources pane, click the MT icon mt-icon. The MT settings pane appears.

3.Select the MT profile you are using and under the list, click Edit.

4.On the Services tab, find the GoogleMT machine translation plugin and click its row. The GoogleMT plugin settings window opens.GoogleMT_plugin_settings_dialog

Use

1.Obtain your access. To learn how, see the memoQ Knowledge Base. At the end, you will have a Google API Key.

2.Under Key for API v2.0, paste your API key.

3.In the Referer box, enter localhost.

4.Normally, when memoQ sends text to Google, the tags are not sent. The translation you get back from Google will not contain any tags. memoQ will insert all the tags at the end of the machine-translated text. Choose how to handle tags with the Formatting and lookup dropdown.

- To use no formatting and no tags: Choose Use plain text only.
- To use formatting but use no tags: Choose Use text and formatting.
- To use both formatting and tags: Choose Use formatting and tags.

To leave the tags out altogether, clear the Insert required tags at the end of the translation check box.

Do not send sensitive text to Google: Type a regular expression in the Do not translate segments that match the following regex box. If a segment matches the regular expression – that is, there is a series of characters in the segment that matches the regular expression –, memoQ will not send that segment to the Google machine translation service. For example, if you do not want to send segments that contain dollar amounts, write USD [0-9]+ or $ [0-9]+ in this text box.
