memoQ online project - Settings - LiveDocs settings
A LiveDocs settings profile tells memoQ how to get matches from LiveDocs corpora. This means two things:
- Match thresholds. These are two numbers: One of them sets the minimum match rate of any match that memoQ shows. The other tells memoQ what counts as a good match. (You can pre-translate documents with good matches or better. That's where memoQ uses this second number.)
- Penalties: A match is not always reliable. The match rate is supposed to tell how much you need to work on the translation you got. But it can actually be worse if the translation is bad, or - in the case of LiveDocs - comes from an aligned document pair, and there is a misalignment. For these cases, you use penalties - so that the match rate will be lower than memoQ originally computed.
Using alignment? You may need to look at penalties: If at least one of your LiveDocs corpora contains aligned document pairs, you may need to check the penalties. Otherwise, you may not receive matches from that LiveDocs corpus when you pre-translate your project for good matches.
To learn more about penalties: See Help about editing LQA settings.
You cannot edit the default LQA settings. Either you need to make a copy of the default LiveDocs settings profile, or you need to create a new one.
Belongs to a project, not to a LiveDocs corpus: You choose a LiveDocs settings profile for a project, not for a LiveDocs corpus. If you choose a LiveDocs settings profile for a project, memoQ uses them for all LiveDocs corpora in the project. Then again, in a different project, you can use different LQA settings for the same LiveDocs corpora.
Requires memoQ project manager: You need the project manager edition of memoQ to manage online projects.
You need to be a project manager or an administrator: You may manage online projects only if you are member of the Project managers or Administrators group on the memoQ server, or else you were granted the Project manager role in the project.
How to get here
- On the project management dashboard, locate the project you need to manage. Search for the project if necessary.
- Click the name of the project.
- On the Project ribbon, click Manage. A new memoQ online project window opens. In most cases, the Translations pane appears automatically.
Then, choose Settings:
- On the left, click the Settings icon. The Settings pane appears, with the General tab.
- Click the LQA settings icon. It looks like this:
The LQA settings tab appears.
What can you do?
- In the list of LQA settings, select the one you need to copy.
- Under the list of LQA settings, click Clone/use new.
- The Clone LQA settings into a new resource window opens. It's the same as the Create new LQA settings window.
- Type a name for the LiveDocs settings profile. You may also type a description.
To learn more: See Help about the Create new LQA settings window.
- Click OK.
The LiveDocs settings profile appears in the list at the top. Its check mark will be checked - it will be ready to use in the project.
Only on the same memoQ server: When you create a LiveDocs settings profile in an online project, memoQ will always create the new LQA settings on the same memoQ server where the project is.
Always clone the default LQA settings: You can't edit the Default LiveDocs settings profile. If you need a resource that you can edit, make a copy of (clone) the default one.
To use a LiveDocs settings profile, you need to add it to the project. You should add a LiveDocs settings profile before you send documents to translators. A project always has exactly one LiveDocs settings profile.
If you do not make a change, memoQ will always use the Default LiveDocs settings profile for the project. To use another:
- In the list of LQA settings, find the LiveDocs settings profile you need.
- Click its check box on the left.
The LiveDocs settings profile moves to the top of the list. The check box of previous one will be cleared.
If there are too many LiveDocs settings profiles on the memoQ server, you can filter the list. At the top of the LQA settings tab, there is a Name/description box.
Type a word or two in the Name/description box. It will narrow the list immediately to those LiveDocs settings profiles that have those words in their names or descriptions.
To sort the list by a detail or another: Click the column header of the column you need. For example, to sort the list by name, click the Name header at the top of the list.
You can export a LiveDocs settings profile into an .mqres file. An .mqres file is an XML file where memoQ saves resources like segmentation rule sets, QA option sets, LQA settings etc. These are called light resources because they don't contain a large amount of linguistic data.
To export a LiveDocs settings profile:
- In the list, select the LiveDocs settings profile you need to export.
- Under the list, click Export. A Save As window opens.
Or: Right-click the LiveDocs settings profile. From the menu, choose Export.
- Find a folder and a name for the file, and click Save. memoQ will export all details from the LiveDocs settings profile in the file.
You can also import a LiveDocs settings profile from a .mqres file. When you import an .mqres file, memoQ will always create a new LiveDocs settings profile.
Because memoQ saves all kinds of resources in .mqres files, you need to make sure that your .mqres file contains a LiveDocs settings profile.
To import a LiveDocs settings profile from an .mqres file:
- At the bottom of the LQA settings tab, click Import new. An Open window appears.
- Select the .mqres file. Click Open.
- The Import new LQA settings window opens. It's the same as the Create new LQA settings window.
- memoQ will pick up the name of the LiveDocs settings profile from the .mqres file. However, you can give it a new name, and type a new description, too.
- Click OK.
To learn more: See Help about the Create new LQA settings window.
If at least one of your LiveDocs corpora contains aligned document pairs, you may need to check the penalties. Otherwise, you may not receive matches from that LiveDocs corpus when you pre-translate your project for good matches.
- In the list of LQA settings, select the one you need to edit.
- Under the list of LQA settings, click Edit.
- The Edit corpus settings window opens.
- Change the TM options as necessary.
To learn more: See Help about the Edit corpus settings window.
Cannot edit the default LiveDocs settings profile: You can't edit the Default LiveDocs settings profile. If you need a resource that you can edit, clone the Default LiveDocs settings profile first.
- In the list, select the LiveDocs settings profile.
- Below the list, click Properties.
- The Resource properties window opens. It's the same as the Create new LQA settings window.
- If necessary, change the name or the description of the resource. Click OK.
To learn more: See Help about the Create new LQA settings window.
When you finish
On the Settings pane, choose another tab. Or, choose another pane in the memoQ online project window.
If you make changes to any of the settings, don't forget to save them.
When you make changes to an online project, the changes will happen on memoQ server, not on your computer. It is possible that several users make changes to the project at the same time.
Some changes are not saved automatically. When there are changes you need to save, the green tick mark icon at the top left will become orange:
To save changes to the online project, click this button.
To get the changes that others made to the online project, click this button:
Make sure you save your changes before you click this.
Switch windows: You can open several online projects for management. Each online project opens in a separate window. To switch between them and the Dashboard or Project home (if you have a local project open): press and hold down Alt, and press Tab a few times until you get to the window you want. Or: On the Windows taskbar, click the memoQ icon, and then click the window you want to switch to.
