Intento MT plugin settings

Intento is a machine translation service aggregator. It offers more than 20 services from different MT providers including Amazon, Baidu, DeepL, Google, and Microsoft. (See the complete list below.) Use the Intento plugin to set up how to use Intento's services in memoQ.

How to get here

What can you do?

  1. Get access to the service: Register at https://console.inten.to. You will get an API key.
  2. In the API key box, paste the API key.
  3. Click the Check button. If the key is valid, the MT Provider settings area appears.

Subscribe to MT services via Intento

If you have not subscribed to any MT service, you will pay to Intento for using machine translation services.

Intento can choose the best one provider for your content. This feature is called Smart routing. To use it: Under the API key field, check the Smart routing check box. All other settings disappear. Intento will manage all the services.

Intento regularly evaluate MT providers. When you use Smart routing, the Intento plugin sends the source segments to a few MT services (chosen based on the latest evaluation) that cost less than 25 USD for 1 million characters, and chooses the best service for the language pair you are using.

To use a different method (different providers, your own subscriptions, custom MT engines, etc.), send an email to Intento.

Use your MT services via Intento

If you have subscribed to one or more MT service, you can set those up in the Intento plugin. This way, you will pay to each service provider separately.

  1. Make sure the Smart routing check box is not checked.
  2. Choose an MT provider from the Provider dropdown.
  3. Check the Use your own credentials check box.
  4. Under Authorization parameters, click the text box. Or: at the right of the text box, click the Fill button.
  5. In the Enter credentials window, fill in the text fields.

Note: The fields may be different for each MT provider.

  6. Click OK.

If you have more than one subscription, repeat steps 2 to 6 as needed.

Use custom MT engines

If an MT service allows using custom engines, you can set them up in the Intento plugin settings:

Under the Authorization parameters field, check the Use own custom model check box.

Copy and paste your engine's ID text into the Model text field.

See how much text is sent via the plugin

Check the Log payloads for 30 minutes check box. (...)

When you finish

To save the settings, and return to the Default resources tab of the Options window (or to the Resource console): Click OK, then click OK again.

To return to the Default resources tab of the Options window (or to the Resource console), but not save the new settings: Click Cancel, then click Cancel again.
