Ribbons: Term bases
The Term bases ribbon appears when you choose the Term bases pane in Project home or in the memoQ online project window.
To learn more: See Help about the Term bases pane in Project home, or about the Term bases pane in the memoQ online project window.
Create/Use New: Creates a new term base and adds it to the project. Opens the New term base window.
Register Local: Picks up a term base from your computer, and adds it to the list of term bases in memoQ. Displays an Open window where you can find the folder of the term base. You need to register a term base if it is saved on your hard drive but does not appear on the list in memoQ. This can happen if you receive a term base by e-mail from another memoQ user.
Properties: Opens the Term base properties window. You can change the descriptive details, the languages, and the default lookup settings of the selected term base.
Delete: Deletes the selected term base. You cannot delete a term base that is still in use in the project. First, remove it from the project: clear its check box.
Use in project: Adds the selected term bases to the current project. Same as checking their check boxes.
Remove From Project: Removes the selected term bases from the current project. Same as clearing their check boxes.
Set As Target For New Terms: Makes the selected term base the highest-ranking one. Normally, memoQ will add all new entries to this term base. In the translation editor, when you select a source term and a target term, and press Ctrl+Q, the term pair will be added to this term base.
Raise Rank: The rank of a term base tells memoQ how to order the matches from a term base. Among the term bases in the project, Raise rank moves the selected term base towards the top of the list.
Lower Rank: Among the term bases in the project, moves the selected term base towards the bottom of the list.
Edit: Opens the term base for editing. Shows the term base editor. Caution: When you open a term base from a memoQ server, it can take several minutes, depending on the size of the term base.
Import Terminology: Imports the contents of a CSV file, a TBX file, a TMX file, or an Excel file into the term base. Opens the import settings window for the format of the file. (Click the name of the format.)
Export Terminology: Exports the contents of the term base into a CSV (comma-separated values) file or into a MultiTerm XML file. Opens the Term base export settings window.
Repair Resource: Repairs the selected term base. Starts the Term base maintenance and repair wizard. Use it when you think the term base is damaged.
Synchronize Offline: Works only when you select a term base from a memoQ server. Creates a local copy of the selected online term base, or – if the local copy already exists – synchronizes the contents of the local and the online copies. Uploads any local changes, and downloads any online changes. Local copies appear with a pink background.
This works in Project home only.
If you have access to a memoQ server, you can use term bases from that server, even in a local project.
At the top of the memoQ server section, there is a drop-down box where you can choose the server. Normally, it shows My Computer. This means that you are looking at resources from your own computer.
To connect to a memoQ server: Type or paste the address of the server in the box. Or, if you have used that server before, choose it from the drop-down list. After you enter or choose the server address, click the Select button. You may need to log in to the memoQ server.
After you select a memoQ server, the list of term bases will include the term bases from your computer as well as from the server.
Can choose Language Terminal here: If your copy of memoQ is connected to your Language Terminal profile, you can use the term bases you uploaded or the ones that other users shared with you.
Server Administrator: Opens the Server administrator window where you can manage a memoQ server. This requires the project manager edition of memoQ, and you must be an administrator or a project manager on that server.
Manage Logins: Shows the memoQ servers you are connected to. You can also remove a connection. Do that if you no longer have access to a server, or you need to log in to it with a different user name and password. Opens the Manage logins window.
