Compatibility of CMS Dashboard
This topic explains the compatibility limitations of the CMS Dashboard.
These limitations come from two sources:
- The CMS API was introduced in memoQ 8.3. It is compatible within major versions. That means that using the CMS Dashboard, any client with a version 8.x can connect to any server with a version 8.x. For example, you can connect to a memoQ TMS 8.4 from the CMS Dashboard of memoQ 8.3, and see the jobs and workflows on that server. You can even manage (create, edit, remove) workflows and jobs. But you cannot import jobs manually into projects.
(Automatic project creation is done on the server, so the compatibility limitation does not affect your workflows.) - Until memoQ 8.5, you could only create and manage projects on a memoQ TMS using a client with the same major and minor version. This is true for the CMS Dashboard, too: you can connect a memoQ client 8.3 to a memoQ TMS 8.4, but cannot create projects.
From memoQ 8.6, this limitation is gone, but you still need a client and a server with the same major version. And there is no backward compatibility here: For example, a memoQ client 8.7 can manage 8.6 and newer 8.x versions of memoQ TMS, but not 8.5 or earlier.
From memoQ 9, any 9.x memoQ client can manage any 9.x memoQ TMS, but not 8.x versions.
