Accessibility mode in webtrans

Accessibility mode allows users of assistive technology (such as screen readers) to use webtrans easily and more effectively.

This mode was tested with the JAWS screen reader.

Activate Accessibility mode

  1. To open the button list: Press Insert+Ctrl+B.

  2. When in the button list, type “acc” and then press Enter. The Accessibility mode button is highlighted.

  3. To activate Accessibility mode: press Space or Enter.

  4. webtrans automatically redirects you on the first segment. You can start working from here.

    If you need to refresh the page at any point, webtrans will remember whether the Accessibility mode was turned on or off.

If you are an experienced Jaws user, you may want to switch off default settings for the Forms mode. In Jaws, open UtilitiesSettings Center → from the drop-down list, choose Default or press Ctrl+Shift+D → select Forms mode → select Manual. You can also switch Forms mode off from webtrans: Press Esc or Capslock+;.

Shortcuts

Use these keyboard shortcuts to move around in the translation editor:

  • Jump to the Translation results section: T. You can check translation results one by one. Your screen reader will read the information in this order: source language, row number, type of translation result (for example, TM, TB, LiveDocs), and the percentage match (optional), target language.

  • Insert the selected translation result: Ctrl+number.

  • Jump back to the grid: Shift+T.

  • Move around in the grid: Alt+Ctrl+arrow keys. For example, if you are in the source segment and want to move to the target segment, press Alt+Ctrl+right arrow.

  • Move around in the status box: Arrow keys. For example, to check the match rate, comments, or warnings.

  • Confirm the segment: Ctrl+Enter.

  • Display all the headings: Shift+H.

  • Create a bookmark and mark the segment to jump back to it quickly: Ctrl+Windows+K.

  • Jump back to the bookmark/the last segment you edited: K.

  • Move to the end of the page or straight to the pop-up window: Ctrl+End. For example, if you want to delete a comment, memoQ displays the confirmation window asking you to confirm that you want to delete this comment. Use this shortcut to move straight to this window and navigate with arrows to the Delete button. Press Enter to confirm.

  • If there are any shortcut conflicts between JAWS and webtrans: Press Insert+3.

    For example:

    • Move page down: Insert+3+Page Down.

    • Select all rows: Insert+3 and then Ctrl+Shift+A.
