Instructions for linguists

You can work with memoQ cloud through the memoQ desktop app or through a browser. The browser app is simpler, can be used with any operating system, and is more suitable for basic use. The desktop app runs only on Windows, but has a lot more features.

Using the desktop app

Get a license from the memoQ cloud

If you do not have memoQ

  1. Download and install memoQ translator pro from memoQ's Downloads page.

  2. When you run memoQ for the first time. and the following window appears, click OK:


  3. Jump to Step 3 below.

If you have memoQ, but don’t have your own license

  1. Open memoQ, and click the blue memoQ tab in the upper left corner.


  1. Click Activation Wizard.


  2. The memoQ activation wizard opens. Click the Next button, then choose the I wish to use CAL... option:


  1. On the following screen, click the Configure button.

  2. In the CAL server field, enter your memoQ cloud address. Then click the Test button.

  3. Choose the Enter user name and password option. Enter your login information.

  4. You should now receive a translator pro license:

 

If you have memoQ and your own license

You do not need to borrow a license from the memoQ cloud's license pool, You can already start checking out projects from the memoQ cloud.


If you work in WebTrans, using a browser


When a project manager assigns work to you, you receive an e-mail notification from the memoQ cloud server. Simply click on the project link in that e-mail. You will automatically get a license.


Check out projects from the memoQ cloud server

 

When a project manager assigns work to you in a memoQ cloud, you receive an e-mail with short instructions on how to access the project – and sometimes an attachment, too, that opens the project. If you do not receive this e-mail:

  1. On the ribbon, click the Check Out From Server icon,

    OR: Above the project list, click the Check out a project from a memoQ server button.


  2. In the Server URL box, enter your memoQ cloud address, and click the check mark button.

  3. Select a project and click the Check out project link.

Work in WebTrans, using a browser

When a project manager assigns work to you in a memoQ cloud, you receive an e-mail with a link to the project. If you don’t receive this e-mail, follow these steps.

  1. Open your browser, and enter the memoQ Cloud address.

  2. Enter your login information:

  3. Click the Sign in button.

  4. On the My tasks page, find the file (use the Search box if you have a lot of files). To open it for translation, click its filename.
