The Confirm and update rows dialog allows you to confirm and update specific segments in the translation document or documents.

How to begin

You can invoke this dialog in three ways:

1.When Project home is open, choose Confirm And Update on the Preparation ribbon tab. This enables you to confirm and update segments in all or selected documents to the master TM in your project.

2.When a translation document is open, choose Confirm on the Translation or Review ribbon tab. Use this command if you want to confirm and update parts of your document, the project or only specific segments.

3.Use the keyboard when a translation document is open and active: Press Ctrl+Shift+U.

Note: Confirm updates the working TM. Confirm and update updates the master TM in your project.

Caution: You might not be able to confirm and update rows from documents in an online project while memoQ server is running an automated task on the same project. In this case, you will receive a message with the advice to wait a few minutes. This is not an error: you can continue with confirming and updating in a few minutes.

Use

This dialog consists of three sections:

Scope section:

Use this section to select the scope of the operation.

Project: Select this radio button to confirm all affected segments in the project.

Selected documents: Select this radio button to confirm all affected segments in the documents selected in the Translations pane of Project home.

Open documents: Select this radio button to confirm all affected segments only in the currently open documents.

Active document: Select this radio button to confirm all affected segments in the active document only.

From cursor: Select this radio button to confirm all affected segments in the active document only, downwards from the current segment.

Selection: Select this radio button to confirm affected segments that are selected in the active document.

Work on views: Check this check box to confirm affected segments in the views of the project only.

Status of segments to confirm and update section:

Use the check boxes in this section to control what segments in the selected scope will be confirmed and updated. In the description below, these segments are called the "affected segments". You can select one or more statuses to work on.

Edited: Select this check box to confirm and update segments that have been edited but not confirmed. Choose this option if you want to confirm all remaining segments in your document without reading through them.

All statuses: Select this check box to confirm and update all segments regardless of their segment status.

100% or 101% pre-translated: Select this check box to confirm and update segments that have been pre-translated, and have an unambiguous 100% or 101% (context) match from the translation memories. Choose this option if you want to confirm pre-translated segments that need no further reviewing (for example, when the translations were inserted from a proofread translation memory).

Locked (regardless of status "behind" the lock): Select this check box to update the primary TM with locked rows regardless the status they have "behind" being locked. memoQ makes no changes to the row status nor the timestamp.

Translator confirmed: Select this check box to confirm and update segments that have already been confirmed. Choose this option if you want to save your translations in a different translation memory.

Reviewer 1 confirmed: Select this check box to confirm and update segments that have already been confirmed. Choose this option if you are assigned in the Reviewer 1 role.

Reviewer 2 confirmed: Select this check box to confirm and update segments that have been proofread. If you use a different translation memory for this action, you can have a translation memory that contains proofread translations only.

Update TM Repository section:

Also update TM Repository check box: This check box is available if the primary translation memory of the project is originally the result of a TM Repository query. If you check this check box, memoQ server (where the primary TM is stored) will update the TM Repository with new and changed translation units from the primary TM.

Note: TM Repository is a centralized store of translation memory data. memoQ server can take the contents of translation memories from a TM Repository store. For more information, see the corresponding product pages on the Kilgray website.

Important: memoQ server updates the TM Repository with the confirmed segments only if your user account is authorized to access the TM Repository. If your organization operates a TM Repository store, and you need to update it, contact your project manager or server administrator for more information.

If you click the Show more... link in the dialog, two further sections appear:

User name to store in the TM section:

You can determine what user name is stored in the translation memory as the one who last modified each segment.

Project user or server login ("username"): Choose this radio button to store the current user name in the translation memory. In a local translation memory, memoQ will store the local user name (the name under which memoQ is registered). In a remote translation memory, memoQ will store the login name you use with the server where the translation memory is stored.

User name stored with each row: Choose this radio button to store the user names that memoQ saved in the document for each segment. From the Role drop-down list, choose which role memoQ should take the user name from. For example, if you choose Translator, memoQ will store the name of the Translator user from each segment.

In the Default text box, type a default name. memoQ will use this name if the segment refers to no user under the selected role. For example, if you choose Reviewer 1 in the Role drop-down list, but there is a segment that was not confirmed by a user in the Reviewer 1 role, memoQ will store the default name because the name of the Reviewer 1 user is not available for that segment.

Segment status in TM section:

From the Set segment status to drop-down list, choose a status (Unchanged, Translator confirmed, Reviewer 1 confirmed, Reviewer 2 confirmed). Depending on the status you choose here, the segments will have this status stored in your TM after you click OK to run the confirm and update operation.

Note: If a document is assigned to a user, the rows always receive the status that corresponds to the user's role, regardless of what you choose in the Confirm and update rows dialog. If a document assignment role conflicts, the role corresponding to the actual new status that rows receive in the document is stored.

Note: When you invoke the Confirm and update rows dialog in an online project as the project manager or in automated tasks coming from project templates, then all rows get the Reviewer 2 confirmed status.

Note: When you choose Unchanged, then the role from Project home > Settings > General > Confirm using status is used in local projects.

Important: When you choose not to store roles in your project's TM settings, then memoQ always stores None with each entry in the TM.

Custom fields section:

In this section, you can specify the custom fields to be stored with each translation unit in the translation memory.

You can select fields and values from the ones that are available in the definition of the translation memory.

To add a value: Choose a custom field from the Field drop-down list. This list displays all custom fields that are used in the definition of the translation memory. Then, type or choose the value in the Value box. For picklist fields, memoQ displays the list of values. After you choose the field and specify the default value, click Add.

To remove a value: Select a custom field in the Custom fields list, and click Remove.

Note: Be careful when changing the values of custom fields, because the strict and soft filters in TM settings profiles are based on these values. Careless editing of custom field values might result in losing translation memory matches during translation.

Navigation

Click OK to perform the confirm and update operation. Click Cancel to close the dialog box without making changes to your documents.

Click Show more... to view the User name and the Custom fields section. In the expanded view, click Show less... to collapse the Confirm and update rows dialog, and show the first two sections only.
