memoQ online project - Settings - TM Settings

A TM settings resource tells memoQ how to get matches from a translation memory. This means two things: match thresholds and penalties. Match thresholds set the minimum match rate of any match that memoQ shows, and tell memoQ what counts as a good match. These are used in pre-translation. Penalties are used when a match is not reliable: if the translation is bad or inadequate, the match will be worse than the actual match rate.

To learn more about penalties, see the topic about editing TM settings.

Belongs to a project, not to a translation memory: You choose a TM settings resource for a project, not for a translation memory. If you choose a TM settings resource for a project, memoQ uses them for all translation memories in the project. Then again, in a different project, you can use different TM settings for the same translation memories.

Requires memoQ project manager: You need the project manager edition of memoQ to manage online projects.

You need to be a project manager or an administrator: You may manage online projects only if you are a member of the Project managers or Administrators group on the memoQ server – or if you have the Project manager role in the project.

How to get here

  1. On the project management dashboard, find the project you need to manage. Search for the project if needed.
  2. Click the name of the project.
  3. On the Project ribbon, click Manage. A new memoQ online project window opens. In most cases, the Translations pane appears automatically.
  4. On the left, click the Settings icon. The Settings pane appears, with the General tab.
  5. Click the TM Settings icon. It looks like this:

    The TM Settings tab appears.

What can you do?

When you finish

On the Settings pane, choose another tab. Or, choose another pane in the memoQ online project window.

If you make changes to any of the settings, don't forget to save them.

Switch windows: You can open several online projects for management. Each online project opens in a separate window. To switch between them and the Dashboard or Project home (if you have a local project open): press and hold down Alt, and press Tab a few times until you get to the window you want. Or: On the Windows taskbar, click the memoQ icon, and then click the window you want to switch to.
