Project - Confirm and update rows
On this page, you can copy segments (with translations) to a translation memory.
Use it when you need to update a master translation memory with reviewed translations.
For example, at the end of a translation project, all the translators' and reviewers' work is in the working TMs (there's one for each language pair in the project). The easiest way to put all the final translations (and nothing else) into the master TM is to run Confirm and update rows.
You need a working or a master translation memory in your project before you can do this.
How to get here
-
Log in to memoQweb as an administrator or a project manager.
-
On the Active projects list, click a project.
-
In the top right corner, click the More options
button, and in the menu, click Confirm and update rows
.
This way, you can confirm and update all segments in the project's documents.
OR
In the document list, check the checkboxes of one or more documents. Above the list, click the Confirm and update rows link.
This way, you can confirm and update the segments in the selected documents.
-
The Confirm and update rows page opens.
What can you do?
Choose the segments you need to copy to the translation memory
Check the Edited, 100% or 101% pre-translated, Translator confirmed, Reviewer 1 confirmed, or Reviewer 2 confirmed checkboxes as needed.
There are two more check boxes in the list.
All statuses: This setting confirms unlocked segments of every status into the selected TM, and ignores all the other check boxes.
Locked (ignore their initial status): This setting confirms locked segments of every status into the selected TM.
Their effects together are:
All statuses on | All statuses off | |
Locked on | All segments are saved in the TM | All locked segments are saved in the TM, plus unlocked segments with selected statuses |
Locked off | All unlocked segments are saved in the TM | Only unlocked segments with selected statuses are saved in the TM |
memoQ changes the status of unlocked segments only, based on the Show segment status in document and TM setting.
Choose the TM you need to update
Under Choose translation Memory (TM) to update, choose one of these options:
-
Master TM: This is the default setting.
-
Working TM: This setting is useful when you want to put the translations into a separate TM. Before running confirm and update, set that TM as working TM for the project.
-
Working/Master TM: If there is only one TM for the project, or you set the same TM as Master and Working, the two options above are joined.
-
Do not update: This setting is useful when you only need to change the segments' status in the project, and don't want to add the translations to any TM.
Choose how to save segments that are new to the TM
Normally, segments that are not yet in the TM are saved with your username and role. To use a different username or role, check the Save unconfirmed segments with this user name and role checkbox, type a username and choose a role.
Choose a status for the segments
Choose a value from the Show segment status in document and TM dropdown. The segments will have that status in the documents and in the TM. To keep their statuses, choose Unchanged.

If your TM has custom fields in addition to the default ones, there's another section at the bottom of the Confirm and update page:
To set a value:
-
Click the Add custom field button.
-
Choose a field type from the Field dropdown.
The Value box will change depending on the field type you chose.
-
Enter or choose a value.
memoQ will save this value into the TM's custom field for every segment.
-
Click the Add button.
To add more values, repeat as many times as needed.
To remove a value, click the X on its label:
When you finish
To begin confirming and updating the segments, click Confirm and update. To return to the Translations page, click Cancel.
