Globalese Cloud text translation settings

To set up the Globalese Cloud text translation service in memoQ, you need a Globalese Cloud account.

In memoQ 9.12 and later versions, Globalese Cloud text translation is available as a public plugin. The private version of the plugin can be used with earlier memoQversions.

For memoQ 9.10 and earlier versions, Globalese Cloud text translation is available as a private plugin. If you install the plugin on memoQ TMS 9.9 or earlier, you need to manually adjust configuration files. To learn more: See the memoQ machine translation SDK (section "Testing a new plugin in memoQ TMS"). Also, the server machine needs to have .NET 4.8 installed.

How to get here

  1. At the top of the memoQ window, click the Resource console Resource console icon. icon. The Resource console window opens.
  2. In the Server URL list, choose or type the server's address. Or, to see local resources only, choose My computer. Click the Select Select icon. button.
  3. In the left-side pane, click the MT settings MT settings icon. icon. The MT settings pane appears.
  4. For projects with more than one target language: In the top-right corner, choose a language from the Target language dropdown list if needed. Or, to use the same MT settings for all target languages, do not change the default value (All languages).
  5. Select the MT settings resource you are using, and click Edit under the list.
  6. On the Services tab, find the plugin and click its row. If it is active, click its row to open the Globalese Cloud text translation settings window. If it is grayed out, click its row once to turn it on, then click it again to open the settings.

Globalese Could text translation settings window ready to be activated via base URL and API key.

What can you do?

  1. Enter the Base URL address of your Globalese system.
  2. Enter the API key you received with your subscription.
  3. Click the Connect button. memoQ validates your API key.

Active Globalese Cloud text translation settings window with the group and engines dropdowns, Logging options, and Path for log files visible.

  4. Choose Group and Engine from the dropdowns. You can choose only engines that have active instances.

  5. The Log events to file check box is checked: the plugin collects information about its operation.

Logging on memoQ TMS: Make sure that the log path is in the %PROGRAMDATA%\memoQ Server folder on the server machine. memoQ TMS has write permission on this location.

  6. To save your choices: Click OK.

Might be slow to start: At first, Globalese needs to initialize the MT engine, and might return translations with some delay. When you start pre-translating or working on a document, the engine catches up to its normal speed.

Engine language over project language: If you have an MT settings resource where a Globalese engine is configured to translate to French, and you add it to a project where the target language is German, the plugin will translate to French. To help avoid this, write the language pair and domain into the MT settings resource's name – for example, "Globalese EN-FR medical".

When you finish

To save the settings and return to the Default resources tab of the Options window (or to the Resource console): Click OK, then click OK again.

To return to the Default resources tab of the Options window (or to the Resource console), without saving the new settings: Click Cancel, then click Cancel again.
